September 2020

We are recommended to eat more fruits to strengthen our immune system during these COVID times. I know the environment has no borders. I have done this work to respond to the call of Pope Francis “Laudato Si” and the season of creation which starts in September 2020 with the Catholic Youth Network for Environmental Sustainability in Africa (CYNESA).

This had motivated me to plant approximately 500 passion fruit seedlings and 25 plum trees.

This was done during the lockdown period in Mbarara / Uganda since June 2020.

The Passion fruit is known for its virtues against sleep disorders and anxiety. Review of the benefits of this beautiful plant. The scientifically known as Passiflora incarnata, it was discovered in 17th century by missionaries in the tropics of South America.

It fights anxiety and known to have relaxing effects; helps reduce associated symptoms, such as palpitations or spasms. It also solves the problems of restlessness. It is a natural sleeping pill "Because it acts on anxiety, but also, because it is slightly sedative, behind the wheel for a long trip!  The Plum on the other hand possesses the laxative properties.

Basing on the above benefits of Passion fruits and plum fruits, we are thus called, especially we young people not to remain inactive especially in this period where we are all struggling to respond effectively to the common threat, COVID-19.

Let's plant more fruits and educate more than one person to know the benefits of fruits for our health. It is also a better way to contribute to the international decision for environmental awareness.
