CRIES OF MY LANDSCAPE
The search for personal interest to the detriment of the land and forests constitute the blind spot of landscape’s restoration in my country though little efforts are being made. My landscape is located in the East part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Goma town in the North Kivu province. Being surrounded by the Nyiragongo and Nyamulagira Volcanoes, Goma town and its vicinities including a big part of Virunga National park are the first victims located in the sights of the following volcanoes and are under the general threat. People are not motivated in maintaining the landscape green due to eventual volcanic eruptions that may occur. Although those eruptions are natural hazards, people should get totally involved in the reduction of the risks relate such as air pollution,…by having atleast one tree in their compounds, by protecting the unique hill located in Goma (Mont Goma) ,which is threatened and disappearing day after day since it is being converted into a sandpit. Trees and any other grasses are rooted out on the Mont Goma, looking for sand and plots for house building purposes. The negligence and the lack of the knowledge about the importance of, not only trees but also a single flower and gardens for food in the compound by some people leaving in Goma.#GLFnairobi2018 #ThinkLandscape
